Enjin (ENJ) kondigt de lancering van het langverwachte Efinity aan, een nieuwe blockchain, of beter gezegd parachain, voor het Polkadot (DOT) netwerk.
Efinity is het eerste netwerk aangesloten aan Polkadot dat gericht is op non-fungible tokens (NFT). Het is ook, net als Enjin zelf, vooral gericht op blockchain-gaming en de metaverse.
Voor mensen die onbekend zijn met Polkadot; een parachain is een aparte, gespecialiseerde blockchain die parallel loopt aan het hoofdnetwerk van Polkadot. Dat zorgt ervoor dat deze blockchains apart van elkaar transacties kunnen verwerken zodat het gehele netwerk niet opstopt.
Enjin is al sinds 2017 een grote speler in de NFT-markt en ontwikkelde de ERC-1155 standaard voor Ethereum (ETH). Dat is de standaard die voor veel NFT’s wordt gebruikt. Enjin heeft ook een eigen token, genaamd de enjin coin (ENJ). De waarde hiervan is echter sinds de all-time high (ATH) uit november met meer dan 70% gedaald, maar dat geldt voor de meeste crypto, vooral uit metaverse sector. Enjin stapt over naar Polkadot vanwege het lage energieverbruik van dit netwerk en de hoge transactiekosten op Ethereum.
Enjin wil met Efinity de thuisbasis worden voor meer dan 100 blockchain computerspellen. Het eerste spel is CryptoBlades, een zogenaamd play-to-earn NFT spel met meer dan 1 miljoen spelers. Het spel is al populair op blockchains als de BNB chain van Binance. Efinity heeft ook een eigen token, genaamd efinity token (EFI). De waarde hiervan ligt echter zelfs 90% onder zijn ATH uit begin augustus.
Desondanks zijn de verwachtingen omtrent Efinity zeer groot. Enjin hield vorig jaar financieringsrondes voor het project en haalde afgelopen april maar liefst $19 miljoen op en in november zelfs $100 miljoen. De prijs van ENJ schoot toen even met maar liefst 19% omhoog in enkele minuten. Deze week zien we nog weinig actie met de koers, maar dat geldt voor vrijwel alle crypto in deze momenteel onzekere markt.
