Beeple is in een korte tijd een van de meest bekende kunstenaars geworden die met non-fungible tokens (NFT’s) werkt. Beeple is uitgeroepen tot kunstenaar van het Jaar 2021 en wist een kunstwerk genaamd 5000 Everydays voor 69 miljoen dollar te verkopen. Hij staat verder bekend om zijn controversiële of misschien wel vreemde kunstwerken. Het is daarom ook niet gek dat hij een samenwerking is aangegaan met popster Madonna. Samen werken zij aan de “Mother of Creation” NFT-lijn.
De NFT-lijn “Mother of Creation” zal drie verschillende NFT’s bevatten die allemaal gebaseerd zijn op het zijn van een moeder en het geboorte geven. De NFT’s zullen video’s zijn van Madonna die bevalt van allerlei verschillende dingen die met het leven en de mensheid te maken hebben. Meer informatie over de NFT’s is te vinden op de officiële website van het project.
“Ik wil nooit provocerend zijn om maar te provoceren. Ze staan voor hoop. Ze staan voor technologie.” zeg Madonna over de NFT’s.
De eerste NFT heeft de naam Mother of Nature gekregen en laat het leven van planten zien. De NFT is een video waarin Madonna naakt te zien is op een vliegend laboratorium bed terwijl ze bevalt van een boom. De boom groeit snel uit tot een grote boom en uiteindelijk groeien er mos en verschillende bloemen op. Ook is de stem van Madonna te horen tijdens het proces. De video duurt in totaal een minuut.
De tweede NFT kreeg de naam Mother of Evolution en laat het leven van dieren zien. Wederom zien we een naakte Madonna die op een verroeste auto zit in een post-apocalyptische stad terwijl ze bevalt van een zwerm vlinders. Op het eind van de video wordt er uitgezoomd en zien we dat de stad om Madonna heen aan het instorten is.
De derde en laatste NFT heet Mother of Technology en laat de ontwikkeling van technologie zien. Opnieuw ligt Madonna naakt en zien we haar dit keer in een bos. Hierbij bevalt ze van verschillende mechanische rupsen die uit haar kruipen en over haar heen lopen.
Deze collectie zal beschikbaar worden op 11 mei. Alle drie de stukken worden op een veiling van het platform Superrare geveild.
