De wereld van cryptocurrencies blijft beroemdheden aantrekken, met name de opkomende non-fungible token (NFT) en metaverse markt trekt veel van hen aan. Deze week maakten de volgende beroemdheden de stap:
Ten eerste hebben we beroemde Britse stervoetballer David Beckham. Beckham is nu de nieuwe ambassadeur voor het blockchain-netwerk van DigitalBits (XDB):

Aldus Beckham. De samenwerking lijkt enigszins op die tussen acteur Matt Damn en Crypto.com, een exchange als Bitvavo. Die samenwerking leidde vorig jaar tot dit beruchte filmpje dat veel kritiek ontving.
De koers van XDB staat overigens maar liefst 64% in de plus ten opzichte van 2 weken geleden, maar zakt vandaag met meer dan 17%.
Daarnaast meldt popster Madonna dat ook zij “eindelijk de metaverse is ingestapt” door een NFT te kopen uit de Bored Ape Yacht Club (BYAC) collectie. Zij kocht Bored Ape #4988:

Madonna kocht de NFT met behulp van MoonPay, een crypto betalingsdienst. Zij betaalde er afgelopen week 180 ETH voor, ter waarde van maar liefst $564.000. Daarnaast kocht ook de bekende Amerikaanse Rapper Wiz Khalifa een Bored Ape. Hij heeft ondertussen samen met Snoop Dogg, die vorig jaar al de NFT markt betrad, een ApeCoin (APE) mixtape uitgebracht:

Eerder dit jaren zagen we ook al Eminem en Memphis Depay grote bedragen uitgeven aan deze NFT’s van verveelde apen. Ethereum (ETH) oprichter Vitalik Buterin liet onlangs echter weten dat hij het een jammere ontwikkeling vindt dat zijn platform gebruikt wordt door rijken om met hun rijkdom te pronken. Hij haalde toen ook fel uit naar de Bored Ape NFT’s.
